About Planar products
The cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) in Planar liquid crystal display (LCD) products contain very small amounts of mercury to provide energy-efficient illumination. The mercury-containing lamp in Planar projectors is also used for illumination and energy efficiency. Currently, there is no cost-effective alternative to mercury-containing lamps in electronics products. The amount of mercury in these lamps is very small and is usually measured in milligrams. Planar displays may contain other waste materials that can be hazardous if not disposed of properly. All Planar products must be recycled or disposed of according to local, State, or Federal laws. For general information on electronic waste or to learn about how to safely dispose of or recycle a Planar product, check the resources linked on this page.
